Spring/Summer Outerwear: Trench Coats and how to style them

We're in the midst of that tricky, trans-seasonal weather, where your winter coat leaves you dripping with sweat a few paces up the street but going out in just a jumper results in freezing to death the moment the sun pops behind a cloud (which, let's face it, happens far too often in this country...)

The answer? The good old Trench.

It's a true classic; effortlessly stylish, practical and goes with anything. But we've come a long way since the original Burberry design of 1879. There are now endless variations of colours, cuts, lengths and details to choose from.

A blush-pink, lightweight, mid length, skirted option was my trench of choice for my trip to Paris earlier this Spring. In arguably the chicest city in the world, I couldn't think of any type of light cover-up I'd rather have worn, and bought this one especially for the occasion.

Pretty much any self-respecting clothing brand will have some kind of trench coat offering, but, as an iconically British wardrobe staple, it's unsurprising that Jack Wills are at the forefront of women's trench coat design. They've even created a content hub dedicated to this timeless piece of outerwear, with a handy guide to how to style a trench coat for every occasion.
