Summer Skin Treats
In this beautiful, yet somewhat interrupted, heatwave that we're having, I've picked up a few new skin treats to soothe, refresh and hydrate my complexion. Unsurprisingly, my skin dries out in the warmer temperatures, leaving it feeling tight and looking a little dull. But these lotions and potions have been helping me to combat the skin side-effects of these sunny climes...
The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask
I don't buy much from The Body Shop, but they're always my first port of call for a good face mask. Their new(ish) range of nature-inspired masks has completely won me over and I'm now on a mission to collect them all. This one is the second to my collection, joining the Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask that I loved during the winter months. The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is, in my opinion, more suited to the summer, as it is cooling and refreshing on the skin and has a really fresh scent. It's a thick, clay consistency and 100% vegan. The combination of bamboo charcoal and green tea leaves absorbs oil and draws out impurities. This purifying action leaves my skin noticeably energised and glowing, and my pores drastically minimised, whilst leaving my skin feeling invigorated - the perfect antidote to the sun and heat.
Kiehl's Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream
I couldn't stop thinking about the heavenly texture of this cream after I tried a bit on the back of my hand in the store. I couldn't help but go back and splurge on a pot. At £50 a pop, it's pricey, but it's the ultimate treat of my daily beauty ritual, and a little really does go a long way. I've been using it twice daily for nearly two months and have barely levelled out the top of the pot.So what's this 'heavenly texture' like? Think of a pot of melted, creamy honey - and you've basically got it. And what does it do? The most noticeable change for me has been my skin's texture; it's so much more smooth and plumped, but also visibly glows too. On the nights I've forgotten to apply my moisturiser, I've woken up the next morning with a thirsty complexion, and can feel my skin drinking up the goodness immediately upon application.
Alpha-H Liquid Gold Rose
Alpha-H Liquid Gold Rose came in my TILI box and is an exclusive limited edition to QVC. I'm not even too sure what it is exactly - a toner? liquid exfoliator? serum? - but whatever it is, I love it.
It's a thin watery liquid, infused with rose, orchid and lotus petal extracts, that adds an instant, intense moisture boost to the skin. The fresh, floral scent and light consistency feels refreshing and soothing on sun-drenched skin, and the botanical properties boast anti-inflammatory and anti-redness benefits.
It's quite potent, so is best used alone as a one-step toner, serum, oil and moisturiser in one. I also only use it once a week or so, usually after a mask, to let it get into the opened, cleansed pores and work it's magic.
